Funeral Services for Metro Councilwoman, Lorri Burgess
BATON ROUGE - Funeral services for former Metro Councilwoman Lorri Burgess will be held, Saturday, at Oasis Christian Church (4524 E. Brookstown Drive) at 11 a.m.
Burgess served on the Metro Council from 1997-2007. She was the first black woman to serve as mayor pro tem and became Chief Operating Officer of the Baton Rouge Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation.
Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome announced Burgess death on Jan. 15.
The former Councilwoman had been battling cancer and was 56 years old at the time of her death.
